With homer help from Willie Davis and Ron Cey, Andy Messersmith pitched the Dodgers past the Astros, 7-2, to record his first N. L. victory. Davis connected for the circuit with a man on base in the first inning and Cey hit his homer with two aboard in the fifth. [The Sporting News]
