In a fantastic rally, the Giants took advantage of Pirate pitchers' wildness and scored seven runs in the ninth inning to gain an 8-7 victory. Gary Thomasson homered in the fifth for the Giants' only run until Bob Moose helped contribute to the Pirates' downfall by walking three batters to load the bases in the ninth.

After Ramon Hernandez replaced Moose, Chris Arnold batted for Thomasson and hit a grand-slam homer. Gary Matthews kept the attack going with a double. Dave Rader and Jim Howarth walked to load the bases again and Bonds cleared the sacks with a double to climax the Giants' comeback. [The Sporting News]
