Homers have been going along with victories for Ken Brett, who beat the Mets, 9-6, and hit his third homer in as many starts and gained his third straight victory for the Phillies. Brett also drove in another run with a sacrifice fly, while Mike Schmidt accounted for three RBIs with a double and homer.

The Mets scored three runs before Brett retired a batter in the first inning when Willie Mays walked, Felix Millan singled and Rusty Staub homered, but the Phillies bounced back with three runs in their half and went ahead to stay with a pair in the second on singles by Bob Boone and Larry Bowa, an error by Jim Fregosi and sacrifice fly by Brett.
