Pete Cordova). Banyon's client, a young woman, is found dead in Banyon's office, shot with Banyon's gun. Pilot movie for the series which debuted in the fall of 1972.

With Collin Wilcox (Ella Fisher), Frank Aletter (John Garvey), Marlyn Mason (Maggie Starr), Sarah Kennedy (Suzie), Peter White (Ross Vincent). The hard times of the 1930s form the background for a series about the adventures of a private detective. Robert Forster stars as Miles Banyon and Joan Blondell and Richard Jaeckel have continuing roles. In the first episode, Banyon discounts an official ruling of suicide and suspects murder when a client is found dead.

Officially ordered off a case, Lt. McNeil hires Banyon to solve a suspected murder that has bothered him for nearly seven years.

Banyon hires another private detective to handle a routine case for him, and the detective is murdered.

December 1, 1972: Sally Overman Is Missing

A waitress hires Banyon to find the driver who ran her down and tried to kill her. His investigation takes him to a Pasadena mansion where he meets a glamorous socialite.

His daughter, convinced it wasn't a simple holdup robbery, hires Banyon to investigate.

Banyon goes after an alimony-owing ex-husband and winds up being held captive by a big-time mobster holed up in a Pasadena hotel. (Last show of the series.)
