With Ivor Barry (Charles). A contemporary comedy-drama series about a young couple who fall in love and marry despite their diverse backgrounds. In the first episode, it's a case of love at first sight as a struggling writer with a Jewish background meets the daughter from a wealthy Irish Catholic family.
Season 1, episode 2 Sam and Sophie win a trip to Rome and a private audience with the Pope from a raffle ticket sold to them. Walter feels that the Steinbergs might embarrass him when they meet the Pontiff.

With Gregory Morton (Rabbi Golden). Bridget and Bernie agree to their parents' wish to be remarried in a religious ceremony, but it's not all that easy since one is Jewish and the other Catholic.

W: Warren S. Murray A perennially breaking bed not only causes sleeping problems for Bridget and Bernie, but touches off an inter-family squabble. Each of the in-law clans buy the young couple a bed, unaware that the young couple have decided to go the waterbed route.

With John Fiedler (Morrison), Lois January (Irate Tenant). Bridget and Bernie reluctantly accept the Fitzgeralds' belated wedding present -- one year's free rent in a plush uptown apartment, but the young couple have trouble adapting to their new luxury quarters.
Season 1, episode 9 Bernie's skipping a breakfast of ham and eggs, plus a little interference from Bernie's mother, starts Bridget worrying about Bernie adapting to a non-Jewish wife. Bridget takes a crash course on Judaism and Jewish cooking but Bernie isn't too thrilled with Bridget's new ethnic interests.

With Nancy Walker (Aunt Ruthie), Nora Marlowe (Aunt Agnes), Ivor Barry (Charles). Bridget and her parents become Jewish for the weekend when Sophie's devoted Jewish sister drops into New York on her way home from the Holy Land.

With Ivor Barry (Charles), Ysabel MacCloskey (Mother Superior). Nerves are strained between Bridget and Bernie, and the Steinbergs and the Fitzgeralds decide the best way to smooth things over is to send the kids on the honeymoon they never had.
