April 18, 1975: Pilot
With Mitch Brown (Nick Vitale), Maureen Arthur (Estelle). A widower struggles to raise his two teen-agers in "Joe and Sons", a pilot for a possible series. In this story, Joe worries about the mysterious behavior of his older son who has been coming home late and falling asleep in class.
September 9, 1975: Mark's Doubt
Season 1, episode 1 Richard Castellano stars as Joe Vitale, a blue collar worker/widower raising two teenage sons. A theological crisis begins the series, as the older boy declares his doubt in the existence of God.
Season 1, episode 2 Joe is worried about the mysterious behavior of his older son, who has been coming home late and falling asleep in class.

With Audrey Christie (Mrs. Bailey). Joe Vitale catches his 12-year-old son reading a book titled "Sex and You".
Season 1, episode 4
With Barbara Perry (Theresa). Joe Vitale has a date, one of the few since his wife died, with a girl he knew in high school. However his steelworker buddy Gus has two dates -- one intended for Joe -- as pandemonium reigns.

With Dimitra Arliss (Flora). When Mark gets a date with the daughter of a woman Joe knew in his own youth, Joe is convinced that the mother's wildness as a girl has been transfered to the daughter, but he learns he's wrong.
Season 1, episode 6 Joe Vitale is looking forward to going with his pal Gus to the annual Hoboken Sheet and Tube Hudson River Boat Ride and Beer Blast, but his sons need his help.
Season 1, episode 7
With Doris Roberts (Widow), Sorrell Booke (Mo Molonaire). When Joe's blind date turns out to be a woman acting as if she were a teenager, Joe has to politely turn her off.
Season 1, episode 8
With Harold J. Stone (Uncle Charlie). Joe's 75-year-old uncle moves in after running away from his retirement home.
Season 1, episode 9
With Sorrell Booke (Mo Molonaire). A friend of Joe's shows up at the Vitale house in a neck brace, but his pain subsides as he tells Joe of the money he plans to sue the bus company for.
Season 1, episode 10 Twelve-year-old Nick decides to study ballet in school instead of self-defense, which doesn't bother Joe, but Aunt Josephine is beginning to worry about her nephew's masculinity.
Season 1, episode 11
With Lawrence Cook (Patrolman). A friend of the boys asks them to "plant sit" with a strange looking plant, and Joe and Gus suspect it might be marijuana.
Season 1, episode 12
With Darrell Zwerling (Doctor). Nick, who has taken great pains to hide his bed-wetting from the others, finds himself the object of much concern when his secret is discovered.
Season 1, episode 13
With John Brascia (Piggy). Gus fears for his life after running out of a crap game without paying his losses.
Season 1, episode 14
With D'Urville Martin (Dean Martin), Eddie Barth (Pelekoudas). Gus convinces Joe he should hold the wake for Jimmy Flynn in the Vitale living room. (Last show of the series.)
