The second of a trilogy series in this time slot stars Richard Widmark, making his series debut, as a New York City police detective, a role he created in the 1968 movie of the same title. In the first episode, he's asked to break in a new detective, a recent college graduate. Before the day is over, his rookie partner faces his first real police situation.
