With Michael Greer (Big Mama), Evelyn Russell (Mrs. Ellis). A series built around the life of a young aspiring singer-musician and the 5-year-old daughter of his deceased wife. In the first show, Sam Hayden tries to be a good father while attempting to succeed as lead singer in a group.

March 13, 1975: White Bread And Margarine
Season 1, episode 2

With Lenny Baker (Jinx), Mariclare Costello (Social Worker). A social worker investigates to see if Sam is taking adequate care of Jill, so Sam puts in plants and pot roasts and puts out his musician buddies.

March 20, 1975: Intensive Care
Season 1, episode 3

With William Beckley (Doctor). Sam gets pneumonia and a week in the hospital while his buddies take care of Jill.

March 27, 1975: Father Nature
Season 1, episode 4

With Quenby Hoffman (Laurie), Jarrod Johnson (Robby), Barbara Bosson (Ms. Cox). Sam finds that singing is not one of Jill's assets when she is cast as a singing maple tree in a school play.

With Ji-Tu Cumbuka (Houston), Laurette Spang (Cathy). While Sam is working at several jobs to buy Jill a doll house, Weaver takes her to the zoo and she gets lost.

With Richard Cox (Levis), Michelle Stacy (Little Girl), Gypsi DeYoung (Young Mother). Sam gets a free encyclopedia in return for a purchase, but there are strings attached.

April 17, 1975: A Houseboat Is Not A Home
Season 1, episode 7

With William Flatley (Foreman). Jill asks for a house so they won't have landlord's rules, such as no loud music and no chimpanzees. Then Sam is offered a houseboat free for six months but finds that "free" is not even a good bargain.

April 24, 1975: The Angel Of Doom
Season 1, episode 8

Jill gets worried about the concept of death and Sam is baffled at how to explain it without frightening her.

May 1, 1975: Song For Montana - Part 1
Season 1, episode 9

With Conny Van Dyke (Montana). Sam falls in love with a singer named Montana. He meets her at a nightclub audition and immediately prefers her to the job.

May 8, 1975: Song For Montana - Part 2
Season 1, episode 10

With Aubri Martin (Mother), Conny Van Dyke (Montana). Sam asks Montana to marry him after knowing her only two weeks.

May 15, 1975: Have A Nice Day

Sam and Jill decide to rough it in the mountains. They have a good time until Sam gets his leg caught in a bear trap.

May 22, 1975: Leave It To Weaver
Season 1, episode 12

With Kim Milford (Eric), Burke Byrnes (Eddie), Dave Morick (Dentist). Weaver thinks Sam's having to take care of Jill is keeping the group from making it big, so he quits.

May 29, 1975: Why Sam's Paid
Season 1, episode 13

With Liz Ingleson (Hostess), Eugene Roche (Feldon), John Orchard (Policeman). In his never-ending effort to make a buck, Sam gets a job as a private detective. (Last show of the series.)
