With Jerry Houser (Lenny), Janus Blythe (Debbie), Suzanne Wishner (Karen). Debut of a comedy series centering around the misadventures of a small town hardware store owner. McLean Stevenson plays Mac Ferguson, who works hard at his home and his business, pacifying a wife, a mother-in-law, a grown-up son and a divorced daughter with two youngsters.

With Murray MacLeod (Phil), Richard Mulligan (Lloyd), Jenifer Shaw (Sherri). Mac takes steps to nip Janet's blossoming relationship with an older man in the bud.

With Loni Anderson (Mrs. Swenson), Wil Albert (Mr. Sutton), John Voldstad (Larry). Mac must play unwilling host to a young guru brought home by Chris, and a nasty pooch acquired by Janet.

With Malcolm Atterbury ('Big Mac' Ferguson), David Levy (Norman). Mac's dad moves in and decides to redecorate both the Fergusons' house and the hardware store.
Season 1, episode 8
With Jack Baker (Taylor), Carol Arthur (Mrs. Alcott), Ruth Kobart (Mrs. Turner). The Fergusons try to convince a screening panel that Mac is the best choice for a city council seat.

With Beverly Sanders (Fanny), Andrew Parks (Allan). After Mac bemoans the family's financial state, Janet takes a cocktail waitress job.
Season 1, episode 11 Mac and Peggy's plans for a private anniversary party at home alone are shattered when two of Allan's commune compatriots drop in for the evening. (Last show of the series.)
