Helen Hayes and Mildred Natwick star as two quaint sisters who write murder mysteries for fun and profit, but are constantly involved in real-life mysteries as well. Tonight, Ernestine and Gwendolyn Snoop are visited by a young girl who fears for the life of her mother, a retired movie star. The mother dies, and her death seems linked to a scandalous autobiographical manuscript that could give a number of people a motive for murder.
