With Rico Carty driving in four runs, the Braves defeated the Padres, 6-1. Carty accounted for one RBI with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and then homered with two men on base in the eighth. Bob Tillman also homered for the Braves. Pat Jarvis limited the Padres to five hits and struck out 11, matching his game high for his career with the Braves. [The Sporting News]
