In a new role as a pinch-hitter, Ron Hunt started the third straight game-winning rally for the Giants, hitting a double in the eighth inning and scoring on a single by Bobby Bonds to defeat the Reds, 4-3. After the Reds took a 2-0 lead, Ken Henderson singled and scored for the Giants in the second and batted in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the fifth.
