Frank Howard hit his first homer of season, connecting with two men on base, to enable the Senators to defeat the Red Sox, 4-3. In the third inning Bernie Allen doubled and scored the Nats' first run on a single by John Roseboro. The next two batters went out, but Ed Brinkman walked and Howard followed with his round-tripper. Luis Alvarado, who hit two doubles, figured in the scoring of all the Red Sox runs. [The Sporting News]
