The new Brewers, who got a lift from the slugging of Danny Walton, gained their first victory by exploding for four runs in the ninth inning to defeat the White Sox, 8-4. Walton kept the Brewers in the game by hitting a pair of two-run homers. In the ninth, a single by Max Alvis, an error on a bunt by Ted Kubiak and a single by Rich Rollins broke a 4-4 tie.
