The Astros set a club record for homers in one game, smashing five en route to an 8-3 victory over the Braves. Jim Wynn blasted two tremendous drives, one of them reaching the fifth-deck seats of the Astrodome, 65 feet above ground at the 340-foot mark from home plate. Joe Pepitone, Tommy Davis and Doug Rader rapped other round-trippers. Larry Dierker blanked the Braves on five hits until the ninth inning, but then gave up their three runs on four hits, including a homer by Orlando Cepeda.
