Although unable to go the route, Tom Seaver batted in three runs with a single and double to help himself to victory as the Mets defeated the Cardinals, 6-4. Al Weis accounted for two RBIs with a double. Seaver was lifted after Dick Allen homered and Joe Hague and Julian Javier singled with two out in the eighth inning.
