Playing before an opening-night crowd of 37,181, the Braves exploded for four runs in the first inning and added five more in the fourth to defeat the Giants, 9-3. Hank Aaron homered with a man on base to feature the initial outburst and drove in another run with a single in the fourth. Rico Carty singled to add two tallies and Tony Gonzalez then capped the Braves' scoring with a two-run triple. [The Sporting News]
