Jim Lonborg capped the Red Sox scoring with the second homer of his major league career to mark a 6-2 victory over the Yankees. Lonborg held the Yankees to three singles in the first seven innings, but then needed help from Sparky Lyle when the Yankees scored their runs in the eighth on a single by Jerry Kenney, double by Jake Gibbs, a wild pitch and an infield out.
