Orlando Cepeda, who hit a homer and single earlier in the game, broke a 5-5 tie with a single that batted in one run and led to another in the seventh inning, providing the Braves with a 7-5 victory over the Padres. Clete Boyer also homered for the Braves, while Nate Colbert hit two and Cito Gaston one for the Padres. Colbert's second smash knotted the count in the sixth. Cepeda's single in the seventh scored Hank Aaron from second base and Rico Carty also came home from first when Ed Spiezio let the throw from the outfield get past him for an error.
