After belting the first two homers of his major league career, John Mayberry was hit by a pitch in the tenth inning and scored on singles by Johnny Edwards and Jim Beauchamp to give the Astros the victory over the Giants. Mayberry hit his the first homer in the third inning and Joe Pepitone whacked one in the fifth, but the Giants had a three-run smash by Willie McCovey and a solo swat by Dick Dietz in taking 6-3 lead. Mayberry then tied the score in the eighth, hitting his second homer of game after Pepitone and Denis Menke had singled. [The Sporting News]
