The hitting of George Spriggs and Bob Oliver paced the Royals to a 7-5 victory over the Angels. Spriggs collected four hits in five trips and scored three runs. Oliver drove in three with a triple and a sacrifice fly. Jay Johnstone, who batted in four runs for the Angels, tied the score at 5-5 in the fifth inning by hitting a homer with two men on base. The Royals broke away in the seventh when Spriggs singled, took third on a single by Ed Kirkpatrick and counted on a sacrifice fly by Amos Otis. [The Sporting News]
