Dick Allen hit his fourth homer in eight games with the Cardinals to feature a 5-2 victory over the Pirates. Joe Torre batted in two runs with a single in the first inning. After Allen hit his homer in the third, the Cardinals iced the decision with two more runs on a single by Torre, an error, and singles by Joe Hague and Julian Javier.
