Ron Hunt batted in six runs with a grand-slam homer and single, while Bob Heise was not far behind with five RBIs on three hits, as the Giants beat the Reds, 16-9. The Reds piled up seven runs in the fourth inning to take 8-3 lead, but the Giants came back with seven in the sixth. Ray Washburn walked four straight batters to force in a run before departing in favor of Tony Cloninger, who started off by inducing Russ Gibson to ground into a double play via the plate.
