The Royals pushed across three runs in the 13th inning, with a freak play accounting for only one run on a double with the bases loaded, to defeat the Angels, 4-1. Ellie Rodriguez walked, Jim Rooker was hit by a pitch and George Spriggs beat out a bunt to open the stanza. After Rodriguez scored the tie-breaking run on a passed ball, Ed Kirkpatrick drew a pass to reload the sacks. Amos Otis then doubled to right-center field, scoring Rooker, but Spriggs, who had held up, was thrown out at the plate and Kirkpatrick was doubled up after rounding third base.
