In a show of power, the Reds smashed three homers, a triple and three doubles among their 10 hits in a 6-2 victory over the Braves. Tony Perez doubled and Johnny Bench homered in the second inning. One out later, Hal McRae also hit for the circuit. McRae tripled and scored on a single by Dave Concepcion in the fourth. Then, in the seventh, Tommy Helms singled and Perez homered. The Braves got their runs off Jim Merritt in the ninth on a double by Tony Gonzalez and a round-tripper by Rico Carty.
