The relief pitching of Ken Tatum, who struck out two straight batters with two men on base and one out in the ninth inning, saved the Angels' 3-1 victory over the Brewers. Tom Murphy, who yielded only three hits, was lifted after walking the first man in the ninth. Denny Doyle walked another with one out before Tatum took over. The Angels scored all their runs in the third inning on a single by Murphy, pass to Sandy Alomar, forceout of Alomar by Jim Fregosi, singles by Bill Voss and Alex Johnson and a double by Jay Johnstone.
