Chuck Dobson allowed only three hits and pitched the Athletics to a 3-0 victory over the Yankees. A double by Don Mincher and single by Dave Duncan gave Dobson enough to win, but the A's added two unearned runs in the fourth. Sal Bando, making his reappearance in the starting lineup after being sidelined by a hand injury, walked, Dick Green doubled and Reggie Jackson was passed intentionally to load the bases.
