. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Cubs extended their winning streak to 10 games, beating the Astros, 6-3, with a three-homer barrage that included a grand slam by Ron Santo. Billy Williams started the Cubs' scoring with a round-tripper in the fourth inning. The Cubs loaded the bases in the sixth on a single by Don Kessinger, an error and a walk to Williams, setting the stage for Santo's smash off Larry Dierker. After two out, Jim Hickman added a homer for the Cubs' final marker. The Astros' runs also scored on a homer, Johnny Edwards connecting for the circuit with two men on base in the seventh.
