Rick Wise hit two singles, scored one run and drove in another to help himself to victory as the Phillies edged the Dodgers, 4-3. Singles by Wise, Denny Doyle, Don Money and Johnny Briggs produced the first two tallies for the Phillies in the third inning.

Larry Hisle singled in the fourth, stopped at third on a double by Byron Browne and scored on a sacrifice fly by Larry Bowa. Wise then singled to plate Browne with what proved to be the winning run. The Dodgers chipped away at Wise and cut their deficit to one run, but Joe Hoerner relieved and allowed only one hit in the last 2 2/3 innings. [The Sporting News]
