Fritz Peterson drove in two runs with a single in the fifth inning and hit the first homer of his major league career in the seventh to help himself to the Yankees' 7-5 victory over the Angels. Ron Woods also homered for the Yankees. Peterson faltered in the ninth when Ken McMullen came up with a man on base and hit his first homer in an Angels' uniform. With two out, Jim Spencer was safe on an error and Joe Azcue doubled. Steve Hamilton relieved and gave up a run-scoring hit by Billy Cowan before retiring Ray Oyler. [The Sporting News] |
