The Cubs' 11-game winning streak came to an end with a 6-1 loss to the Pirates. Manny Sanguillen hit two homers for the Pirates and drove in three runs. The Pirates used three pitchers, Luke Walker, Bruce Dal Canton and Dave Giusti, who held the Cubs to three hits. Walker pulled a muscle and gave way to Dal Canton in the sixth inning. Giusti then took over and handcuffed the Cubs over the final three frames. [The Sporting News] |
