Tony Perez tied a major league record for most homers in April, hitting his 10th of the month, to lead the Reds to a 4-2 victory over the Astros. Perez batted in one run with a single in the first inning and then hit his homer with Bobby Tolan on base in the third. Johnny Bench tripled in that same stanza and counted the Reds' last run on a sacrifice fly by Lee May. John Mayberry a hit a pinch-homer for the Astros in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
