With Ron Fairly hitting a homer in each game, the Expos swept a twi-night doubleheader with the Padres, 4-2 and 7-3. Steve Huntz, called up from Salt Lake City (Pacific Coast), homered for the Padres in the first inning of the lidlifter and Mike Corkins protected the 1-0 lead until the eighth when Rusty Staub walked and Fairly hit for the circuit. The Expos went on to add two more runs before the inning ended on a single by Bobby Wine with the bases loaded.

In the nightcap, the Expos piled up 13 hits, including a triple and double by Wine, in addition to Fairly's second homer of the night. Steve Renko hurled the route, although struggling in the ninth inning when the Padres got their runs on a bases-loaded double by Chris Cannizzaro. [The Sporting News]
