Dave Marshall wrecked his former teammates by hitting the first grand-slam homer of his career to power the Mets to a 5-2 victory over the Giants. The Mets loaded the bases in the first inning and scored one run on an infield hit by Art Shamsky before Marshall came up and unloaded against Gaylord Perry. The Giants picked up one run when Willie Mays hit for the circuit in the home half, but they did not score again until the eighth when Bobby Bonds and Willie McCovey doubled. [The Sporting News]
