. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Three players and a coach were banished for fighting in a brushback battle that saw the Red Sox defeat the Athletics, 5-3. The brawl broke out when Sonny Siebert, the Red Sox starter, hit Reggie Jackson with a pitch in the sixth inning. Jackson and Blue Moon Odom of the A's and Siebert and coach George Thomas of the Red Sox were banished.

The Red Sox scored twice in the first on three singles and a wild pitch. Siebert was hit by a pitch in the fifth when the Red Sox went on to kayo Chuck Dobson with a single by Mike Andrews, double by Luis Alvarado and single by Tony Conigliaro. After Siebert was ejected in the next stanza, the Red Sox had to call on four relief pitchers to emerge with their victory. Tito Francona homered for the A's first run in the seventh inning.
