Hitting safely in his 20th straight game, Rico Carty smashed two homers, including the first grand-slam of his major league career, to lead the Braves to a 9-2 victory over the Cubs. Carty connected with the bases loaded off Fergie Jenkins in the first inning and added a solo drive as the leadoff batter in the fifth. Hal King and Hank Aaron also homered for the Braves, while Jim Hickman hit one for the Cubs.
