Handed a two-run lead in the first inning, Sany Vance posted his first major league victory, pitching the Dodgers past the Expos, 2-1. The Dodgers started off by loading the bases on a safe bunt by Maury Wills, single by Ted Sizemore and a pass. Wes Parker then drew a walk from Bill Stoneman to force in the first run and the second scored when Willie Crawford forced Parker.

In the third, Andy Kosco, the Dodgers' right fielder, ran into the foul pole trying for a fly by Bobby Wine, and was knocked unconscious. Wine circled bases and was credited with an inside-the-park homer. Kosco was forced to leave the game. [The Sporting News]
