The White Sox erupted for their biggest inning so far this season, scoring eight runs in the sixth, to defeat the Tigers, 13-6. Syd O'Brien started the outburst with an infield hit, Duane Josephson walked, Gail Hopkins singled and Ken Berry doubled to tie the score at 4-4.

After Tom Timmerman relieved Les Cain, Bobby Knoop smashed a three-run homer. Joe Horlen kept the inning going with a single, Walt Williams walked and Luis Aparicio beat out a bunt to load the bases. Carlos May hit a sacrifice fly off John Hiller, Horlen scoring. After O'Brien fouled out, Josephson singled to plate Williams and Aparicio with the final runs of the frame. [The Sporting News]
