. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Catfish Hunter aided his own cause with a bases-loaded triple as the Athletics ended their five-game losing streak by defeating the Senators, 12-5. Rick Monday, Felipe Alou and Don Mincher singled and Dick Green homered to give the A's four runs in the fourth inning.

Hunter hit his triple in the sixth and scored himself on a sacrifice fly by Bert Campaneris. Hunter left the game after surrendering a homer to Aurelio Rodriguez in the Senators' half of the sixth. Mudcat Grant, who pitched the rest of the way, gave up a homer by Lee Maye in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
