The two-hit pitching of Rich Robertson and a two-run homer by Bobby Bonds combined to bring the Giants a 3-1 victory over the Phillies. Bonds singled in the first inning and, after stealing second and the third, eventually scored on a bases-loaded walk to Ken Henderson. Hal Lanier was safe on an error in the second and was forced by Robertson on an attempted sacrifice before Bonds hit his homer.
