The hitting of Gene Michael in the first game and a key double by Roy White in the second game enabled the Yankees to sweep a doubleheader with the Brewers, 8-7 and 4-2. Michael had three hits and drove in three runs in the opener. The Yankees wiped out a 7-5 deficit with three runs in the sixth inning. Danny Cater batted in one with a triple and pinch-hitter Thurman Munson tied the score with another three-bagger. Michael then doubled to plate what proved to be the winning run.

In the nightcap, the Brewers took a 2-1 lead on a homer by Jerry McNertney, but Horace Clarke was safe on an error in the Yankees' seventh, Bobby Murcer walked and White sent both runners home with a double. White stole third and scored the final run on a throwing error by McNertney. [The Sporting News]
