. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Rico Carty set an Atlanta club record, hitting safely in his 23rd straight game, and Jim Nash and Orlando Cepeda clouted homers as the Braves defeated the Pirates, 5-3, for their seventh victory in succession. Carty surpassed Felipe Alou's 22-game mark, set in 1968. While Carty kept his streak going, Sonny Jackson was stopped on a 16-game string. [The Sporting News]
