The new Brewers snapped their nine-game losing streak and were winners for the first time at home, after five defeats, when homers by John Kennedy and Ted Kubiak beat the Red Sox, 4-3.

Kennedy's clout followed a walk to Greg Goossen and a single by Kubiak in the fourth inning. Billy Conigliaro homered for the Red Sox in the seventh and two runs to tie the score followed in the eighth when Reggie Smith singled and Carl Yastrzemski hit for the circuit. Kubiak smashed his homer in the Brewers' half to provide the winning run. Bobby Bolin, who gained the victory, struck out six straight batters at one stretch of his performance.
