With a Cap Day crowd of 33,203 on hand, the Athletics couldn't put a cap on the slugging of Carl Yastrzemski and Tony Conigliaro, who batted the Red Sox to 5-3 victory. Yastrzemski hit two homers and then singled with two out in the ninth inning before Conigliaro came to the plate and won the game with a round-tripper.
