. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Dave Marshall hit three doubles and Art Shamsky smashed a homer to lead the Mets to an 8-4 victory over the Expos. After Marshall rapped his second double in the fifth inning, Shamsky whacked his homer to break the 2-2 tie. The Mets added three runs in the sixth on a pass to Bud Harrelson with the bases loaded and a ground-rule double by Marshall, whose hit bounced over the fence in center field. Adolfp Phillips and John Bateman hit homers for the Expos, who also scored on a triple steal in the second, with Bob Bailey on the front end of the thievery. [The Sporting News]
