Sal Bando started the Athletics' scoring with a two-run single in the first inning and wound it up with a two-run homer in the 11th to trim the Senators, 5-3. After the Nats pulled out to a 3-2 lead, the A's tied the score in the eighth on a double by Bert Campaneris and single by Reggie Jackson.
