The Dodgers knocked out Juan Marichal with a six-hit barrage in the third inning and defeated the Giants. 6-3. This was only the fourth time in his 11-year career that Marichal had been chased by the Dodgers and the loss was only his 13th to the Dodgers, whom he had defeated 30 times.

In the third, Maury Wills and Manny Mota singled and both scored on a long single by Willie Davis, who stole second. After Wes Parker beat out an infield hit, Willie Crawford grounded into a forceout, Davis scoring. Billy Grabarkewitz followed with a homer. Tom Haller then singled for the sixth hit of the inning off Marichal to send him to the showers.

Sandy Vance was the Dodgers' winner, but the rookie got last-out help from Jim Brewer after the Giants scored twice in the ninth on a homer by Frank Johnson, a double by Tito Fuentes and a single by Hal Lanier. [The Sporting News]
