The only Yankee pitcher with a complete game to his credit so far this season, Stan Bahnsen hurled the route for the second time and beat the Tigers, 4-1. Bahnsen gave up the Tigers' tally on singles by Dick McAuliffe and Norm Cash, around an infield out, in the first inning. The Yankees tied the score with an unearned run in their half and broke away with two runs in the sixth on singles by Bobby Murcer, Roy White and Danny Cater and a sacrifice fly by Thurman Munson.
