Tom Seaver pitched the Mets' the second straight one-hitter and defeated the Phillies, 4-0. Mike Compton singled in the third inning for the only safety off Seaver, who struck out 15. The Mets scored twice in the fourth inning on a single by onn Clendenon, double by Ron Swoboda, wild pitch by Woodie Fryman and error by Compton on his throw to plate after recovering the ball. Two walks and singles by Joe Foy and Jerry Grote added a pair in the fifth. Seaver's one-hitter, the second of his career, followed a similar performance by Gary Gentry against the Cubs May 13.
