Returning to action after missing two games with a sore shoulder, Willie McCovey smashed two homers and drove in three runs to lead the Giants to a 5-4 victory over the Dodgers. Willie Davis homered with two men on base in the first inning to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead, but Willie Mays walked and McCovey hit for the circuit to tie the score in the third. The Giants added a run in the seventh on singles by Al Gallagher and Bob Heise around an infield out, before McCovey homered again in the eighth to produce the deciding marker. [The Sporting News]
